Core Wars is a concept for a full fledged trading-card-game or collectible-card-game with an interesting twist to it: The game features no fixed card sets, neither do humans design the cards or sets. Instead, all cards in the game are created using an algorithm with some internal balancing checks. This means, that the expandability of this game is sheer infinite. Of course, after a while the generated cards tend to repeat – but it is still an interesting concept.
As far as I can remember this project was researched and started sometime around 2005. As always, I did a few templates, tests, rules-drafts and so on – but nothing serious.
The meat of the whole game is the algorithm and how cards are generated that are still balanced. The background story, atmosphere and art style is close to Space Invaders. BTW: The card names, card backgrounds as well as the invader sprites are generated according to a procedural algorithm as well.
